Calculating the Home Office Deduction On-Demand Webinar

Summary

As more and more taxpayers become self-employed or work from home, the question that is commonly raised is, “Which taxpayers are eligible to claim a home office deduction, and which are not?” In this webinar, we’ll discuss home office deductibility for self-employed taxpayers (C, E or F), partners, shareholders, and taxpayers working remotely either at the request of the employer or the preference of the employee. We’ll review the requirements for being able to claim a home office deduction along with allocating expenses as direct or indirect, calculating allowable depreciation and preparing Form 8829, Expenses for Business Use of Your Home. Lastly, we’ll discuss the employer’s use of accountable plans, and the option of using the simplified home office deduction and its interaction with the regular home office deduction.
