Navigating Net Operating Losses and Carryforwards/Backs On-Demand Webinar

Summary

There are times when businesses have more expenses than income and generate a net operating loss (NOL). In these instances, the trick is to determine how the NOL is treated for individuals, as well as the different entity structures such as a sole proprietor, partnership, S corporation or C corporation. This webinar will review how to calculate an NOL, when it can be carried back and/or forward, how to use an NOL carryforward, as well as the substantiation required to support the carryforward. In addition, we’ll discuss when the taxpayer should file an amended return to claim the NOL or Form 1045, Application for Tentative Refund For Individuals, Estates, or Trusts.
