EIC Enforcement: How to Avoid Becoming an IRS Target Webinar

Summary

The earned income tax credit (EIC) is a refundable federal income tax credit that is available to individuals with low- to moderate-income levels. The EIC helps low- and moderate-income individuals who are employed by providing them with a much-needed financial boost. According to the IRS, in 2019 alone, more than 26 million taxpayers received around $63 billion from the credit, bringing an average of almost $2,500 per family.

It is also a source of great angst with the IRS due to significant fraud. This webinar will review the requirements preparers must follow, what happens when a preparer is targeted by the IRS and what to do (and not do) if you want to avoid appearing in front of the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Criminal Investigation or both.
