Guiding Clients with Estates in Choosing Gifts or Bequests Webinar
Estate planning isn’t just for wealthy taxpayers. Generally, taxpayers have the option to gift assets during their life or through inheritance after death. Each choice has different tax implications, and choosing which option is best for the taxpayer is a tax planning opportunity. This webinar provides the information required to help tax preparers assist their clients with this decision. You’ll leave with the understanding of how to best use the taxpayer’s unified tax credit and the deceased spousal unused exemption (DSUE).
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the difference between a gift during life and bequest after death
- Explain the importance of the unified credit and lifetime gifts
- Determine the DSUE
- Summarize the tax impact on gifts and bequests to both the taxpayer and the beneficiary
Subject matter experts will answer your questions during the presentation. We make every effort to answer as many questions as possible during the webinar but we may not be able to directly address every question.
This webinar includes the presentation slides, attendee top questions and access to the webinar recording.
