Can you confirm my understanding from reading the PIT- 1 instructions, a non resident (who lives in CA and has never stepped foot in New Mexico) and has a New Mexico final K1 with income and capital gains does not file a NM return?

Drake users,

If you are filing 1120-S for NM, check the apportionment CAREFULLY! "Other current assets" flow through to "personal property" even if they are security deposits. And I had items on the 4562 flowing through as real property that were clearly NOT real property.

Drake tech support recommended overriding and entering the correct data. They MIGHT get the problem fixed, but this is just one more example of why it's important to know the rules and not just let the software do the work.

Hi everyone, Amber here. If you find an issue with your NM State tax software would you please let everyone know 1) what software you're using; 2) what the issue/problem is/was; and 3) how you resolved it (if you resolved it).

With tax season fast approaching, remember your Chapter discussion board can be a great resource for state and local tax issues as well as utilizing the state tax volunteers.
