I have encountered a problem that I've never had before, so I am unsure exactly what to do about it. I have a new client this year who has a small business requiring a schedule C and they also take depreciation on several assets. They came in with last year's tax return but it did not have a schedule C or depreciation schedule attached. I told them they would need to get those from their previous tax preparer to be able to accurately prepare this year's return for them.
They e-mailed their previous preparer asking for those forms and the preparer replied with "I'm sorry but those are my work papers and I don't provide that to my clients", and after multiple requests has continued to refuse to provide these documents to my client. Has anyone else encountered this before? What exactly can be done about this by either me, or my client? Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any NATP meetings in NH?
Moved to NH from MA and would like to meet people from the NATP chapter but there's No info on the NATP website.
Can you tell me, other than the spring seminar that I have attended, what will be coming up in NH in the rest of 2015 besides the NATP Essentails course?
Sign up now for the education seminar on May 21, 2015! Kathryn Keane will present two topics - Passive Activity from Theory to Practice and Tepresenting Today's Clients. 6 CPE, $85 for members. Don't miss it!
Members...............You must make sure that National has your PTIN number to ensure that your Continuing Professional Education Credits are recorded properly. Check the NATP site and also the IRS website regularly to verify the records are complete and accurate.
Is it a typo 2015? Is it 2014?
With tax season fast approaching, remember your Chapter discussion board can be a great resource for state and local tax issues as well as utilizing the state tax volunteers.
