Acceptance of Terms
National Association of Tax Professionals INC ("NATP", "us", "we", or "our") operates the website at www.natptax.com and other websites owned or controlled by NATP, mobile applications, membership, tax related products, events, and integrated services including learning management, customer relationship management, event platforms, and member directories (the "Service"). This policy does not cover the terms of service of local NATP chapters. NATP local chapters are separate legal entities that may be subject to different regulations than the national organization, please contact your local chapter for more information.
It is your obligation to read this user agreement carefully before using the Service. By accessing this Service or using any part of the Service or any content or services on the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree to all of the terms and conditions, then you may not access the Service or use the content or any services in the Service.
Modifications of User Agreement
NATP reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace the User Agreement at any time. You shall be responsible for reviewing and becoming familiar with any such modifications. Use of the Service by you following such modification constitutes your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the User Agreement as modified. Material changes to these terms will be communicated through updates posted to this page with the effective date clearly indicated.
Your Registration Obligations
As a condition to using the Service, you are required to register with the Service and select a password and user name ("User Name"), collectively known as your ("Account"). You shall provide the Service with accurate, complete, and updated registration information. You shall also refrain from creating multiple Accounts. Failure to do so shall constitute a breach of the User Agreement, which may result in immediate termination of your Account. You may not (i) select or use as a User Name a name of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; (ii) use as an User Name a name subject to any rights of a person other than you without appropriate authorization; or (iii) use as an User Name a name that is otherwise offensive, vulgar or obscene. NATP reserves the right to refuse registration of, or cancel an Account at its discretion. You shall be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
User Conduct
As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by this User Agreement, or any other purpose not reasonably intended by NATP.
By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree not to use the Service:
- to abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate other Service users;
- to contribute any Content that is infringing, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, offensive or otherwise violates any law or right of any third party;
- to participate in or encourage any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Communications that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers;
- for any illegal or unauthorized purpose. If you are an international user, you agree to comply with all local laws regarding online conduct and acceptable content;
- to post or transmit, or cause to be posted or transmitted, any communication or solicitation designed or intended to obtain password, account, or private information from any Service user;
- to create or submit unwanted email ("Spam") to any other Service users or any URL;
- to violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws);
- to submit links or comments linking to affiliate programs, multi-level marketing schemes, or sites;
- with the exception of accessing RSS feeds, you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access the Service for any purpose without our express written permission. Additionally, you agree that you will not: (i) take any action that imposes, or may impose in our sole discretion an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure; (ii) interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Service or any activities conducted on the Service; or (iii) bypass any measures we may use to prevent or restrict access to the Service;
- with the intention of artificially inflating or altering the 'reputation score', comments, or any other part of the service, including by way of creating separate user accounts for the purpose of artificially altering services; giving or receiving money or other remuneration in exchange for votes; or participating in any other organized effort that in any way artificially alters the results of the Service;
- to use AI-generated content in a manner that violates professional standards, misrepresents its source as human-created when disclosure is required, or distributes AI-generated tax advice without appropriate review and verification;
- to scrape, collect, or harvest member data from public profiles, directories, or other areas of the Service for any purpose including but not limited to marketing, solicitation, or database compilation;
- to violate community guidelines or professional conduct standards in forums, comments, public profiles, or other interactive features;
- to engage in disruptive behavior during virtual or live events including but not limited to harassment, unauthorized recording, or interference with event proceedings;
- to post illegal, defamatory, obscene, threatening, or otherwise inappropriate content on your public member profile or any other user-generated content area of the Service.
NATP may remove any Content and/or Account at any time for any reason (including, but not limited to, upon receipt of claims or allegations from third parties or authorities relating to such Content or Account), or for no reason at all. Content Moderation and Appeals
NATP reserves the right to monitor, review, edit, or remove any user-generated content, including but not limited to forum posts, comments, public profiles, and other contributions to the Service. We may take such action if content violates this User Agreement, applicable laws, or is otherwise deemed inappropriate at our sole discretion.
If your content is removed or your account is suspended or terminated, you may submit an appeal by contacting NATP Member Services at [email protected] with a detailed explanation. NATP will review appeals in good faith but reserves final discretion on all content moderation decisions.
Public Member Profiles
NATP offers an optional public member profile feature through the Find a Tax Pro directory. By enabling your public profile in your account settings, you agree to make certain information you provide publicly accessible online.
You are solely responsible for all information, content, and materials you include in your public profile. You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to post such content and that your profile content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
NATP reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor, review, or remove public profile content. NATP may remove or disable any public profile at any time for any reason, including but not limited to profiles that contain illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate content, or profiles that violate this User Agreement.
By making your profile public, you acknowledge that NATP is not responsible for how the public uses or relies upon information in your profile. NATP makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of information in member profiles. Users who view public profiles do so at their own risk.
If you become aware of inappropriate content in a public member profile, you may report it to NATP by contacting Member Services at mailto:[email protected] or calling 800-558-3402.
Membership and Billing
NATP membership is offered in various tiers and may include auto-renewal features. By becoming a member, you agree to the following:
Auto-Renewal
When you select auto-renewal in your account preferences, unless you cancel your membership before the renewal date, your membership will automatically renew for the same membership period at the then-current membership rate. You authorize NATP to charge your payment method on file for the renewal.
Cancellation
You may cancel your membership at any time by cancelling in your account settings or by contacting NATP Member Services at 800-558-3402 or [email protected]. Cancellation of your membership means that it will not automatically renew at the end of your current membership period, but you will retain access to all membership benefits through your current membership expiration date. Cancellation requests must be received at least 30 days before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. Membership dues are non-refundable except as provided in our Return Policy at https://www.natptax.com/return-policy/.
Proration
NATP does not offer prorated refunds for partial membership periods.
Upgrades and Downgrades
Members may upgrade their membership tier at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, and you will be charged the full higher-level tier for the entire current membership period. Downgrades can only be performed within two months prior to your next renewal date and take effect at your next renewal date, and you will retain access to your current tier benefits until that time. Changes to membership tiers may affect access to certain benefits, resources, or services.
Price Changes
NATP reserves the right to change membership prices annually or as needed. Price changes for existing members will be implemented at renewal and NATP will provide at least 30 days advance notice of any price increases via email to the address on file.
Third-Party Integrations and Services
The Service integrates with various third-party platforms and services to provide enhanced functionality and member benefits, including but not limited to:
- Avalara for tax calculations
- Stripe for payment processing
- Blue J for AI-powered tax research (member benefit)
- TheTaxBook for tax reference materials (member benefit)
- Gleim for EA exam preparation (member benefit)
- Zoom for live and virtual events
- Pheedloop for in person event registration check in and attendance
- Sertifier for credential certificate delivery and verification
When you use these integrated services, you are also subject to their respective terms of service, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies. NATP is not responsible for the content, accuracy, functionality, or availability of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services integrated with NATP is at your own risk.
NATP does not warrant third-party services and makes no representations about the accuracy of information or tools provided by these services, including any AI-generated content or tax calculations. You remain solely responsible for verifying all information and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and professional standards.
Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools
Certain member benefits and integrated services, including Blue J and TheTaxBook, may utilize artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, or other automated technologies. NATP provides access to these services as a member benefit but does not control, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content or recommendations.
AI-generated content, including tax research results, suggestions, or analysis, may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Such content should not be relied upon as professional tax advice without independent verification and the exercise of professional judgment. You are solely responsible for:
- Verifying the accuracy and applicability of any AI-generated content
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and professional standards
- Exercising professional judgment in your use of AI tools
- Meeting your professional obligations to clients regardless of tools used
NATP disclaims all liability for any damages, losses, or professional consequences arising from your use of or reliance upon AI-generated content or automated tools, whether accessed through NATP member benefits or otherwise. Always consult current tax law, regulations, and authoritative guidance before relying on any AI-generated information.
Live and Virtual Events
NATP hosts live and virtual events, webinars, courses, and other educational programs, primarily delivered through Zoom and other event platforms. By registering for and attending NATP events, you agree to:
- Comply with all event-specific rules, codes of conduct, and instructions from event staff
- Refrain from unauthorized recording, screen capture, or redistribution of event content
- Respect other participants and maintain professional conduct at all times
- Hold NATP harmless for any technical difficulties, platform outages, or service interruptions that may affect your event experience
NATP reserves the right to remove any participant from an event for disruptive behavior, violations of this Agreement, or any other reason at NATP's sole discretion, without refund. Event recordings, when made available, are for registered participants' personal, non-commercial use only and may not be shared, distributed, reproduced, or used for any commercial purposes without NATP's express written permission.
Continuing Education Credits and Certifications
NATP makes commercially reasonable efforts to accurately report continuing education (CE) credits earned from NATP to applicable governing bodies including but not limited to the IRS, CTEC, and CFP Board. NATP will also make commercially reasonable efforts to meet applicable CE provider requirements imposed by sponsors and accrediting bodies for approved courses and programs. However, you remain ultimately responsible for ensuring that your CE requirements are met and properly reported.
NATP will make reasonable efforts to correct any inaccuracies in CE credit reporting when brought to our attention. However, NATP's liability for any errors, omissions, or delays in CE credit reporting is limited to a maximum of $100 in direct damages, or the amount you paid for the specific course or event in question, whichever is less.
You are responsible for:
- Verifying that courses meet your specific state and certification requirements before enrollment
- Maintaining your own records of completed education
- Following up with governing agencies to ensure credits are properly recorded
- Meeting all deadlines and requirements imposed by licensing and certification bodies
Beta Features and Service Changes
NATP may introduce new features, services, or functionality on a beta, pilot, or experimental basis. NATP reserves the right to add, modify, or discontinue any features or services at any time without prior notice or liability. Beta features are provided "as is" with no warranty or guarantee of continued availability, support, or functionality.
While NATP strives to provide consistent, reliable service and will make reasonable efforts to support our members, we make no guarantee that any particular feature, benefit, integration, or service will remain available indefinitely. NATP will always endeavor to act in the best interest of our members when making changes to the Service.
Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold harmless NATP, its subsidiaries, affiliates, customers, vendors, officers, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any liability, damage or cost (including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs) from (i) any claim or demand made by any third party due to or arising out of your access to the Service, use of the Services, violation of the User Agreement by you, or the infringement by you, or any third party using your Account of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity.
Warranty Disclaimers
You acknowledge that NATP has no control over, and no duty to take any action regarding: which users gain access to the Service; what effects the Content may have on you; how you may interpret or use the Content; or what actions you may take as a result of having been exposed to the Content. You release NATP from all liability for you having acquired or not acquired Content through the Service. The Service may contain, or direct you to sites containing, information that some people may find offensive or inappropriate. NATP makes no representations concerning any content contained in or accessed through the Service, and NATP will not be responsible or liable for the accuracy, copyright compliance, legality or decency of material contained in or accessed through the Service.
THE SERVICE, CONTENT, AND SITE ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
NATP makes no warranty regarding the availability, reliability, or uninterrupted operation of the Service. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or that defects will be corrected. Scheduled maintenance and unscheduled outages may occur, and NATP will not be liable for any disruption of service.
Links
The Service may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other Internet sites or resources. Because NATP has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that NATP is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any Content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. You further acknowledge and agree that NATP shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such Content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.
Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL NATP OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE UNDER CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, NEGLIGENCE OR OTHER LEGAL THEORY (I) WITH RESPECT TO THE SITE, THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT FOR ANY LOST PROFITS OR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER, SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES (HOWEVER ARISING), OR (II) FOR ANY DIRECT DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF (IN THE AGGREGATE) $100. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH CASES NATP'S LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
Termination
NATP may terminate or suspend any and all Services and your Service account immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach any of the terms or conditions of the User Agreement. Upon termination of your account, your right to use the Services will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your Service account, you may simply discontinue using the Services or contact Member Services to request account closure. All provisions of the User Agreement which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.
Choice of Law and Venue
You agree that the law of the State of Wisconsin in the United States of America will apply to all matters relating to this Agreement and to the Service, without regard to conflict of law provisions. In addition, you agree and consent that any legal action against NATP shall be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Appleton, Wisconsin or the federal courts located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts.
Changes to Member Benefits
The benefits provided to members by NATP are subject to change at any time and at NATP's discretion. Members will be notified of any material changes to benefits through email communication to the address on file and through updates posted in member account areas. NATP will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant benefit changes when feasible.
Research Articles & Publications Disclaimer
The information provided in NATP research articles, publications, and educational materials is applicable only for the facts and circumstances as presented at the time of publication and cannot be used as a precedent for any position for which the facts vary. Tax laws and regulations change frequently, and you are responsible for ensuring that you are applying current law to your specific circumstances. Always consult authoritative sources and exercise professional judgment.
SMS
When you opt-in to the SMS service, we will send you an SMS message to confirm your signup. This service is used to send you notifications about changes to scheduled events you have committed to attend, important membership updates, and other time-sensitive communications. Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you.
You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text the reply "STOP" to any message. For help, you can contact Member Services by calling 800-558-3402, and we will respond with instructions on how to use the service as well as how to unsubscribe.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. If you have questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider. Classified Ads
By submitting an ad, the submitter shall be responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, completeness and request for removal of any submissions. Advertisements may not transfer or assign for any reason any products or services or rights to any products or services. NATP reserves the right to disallow, deny or remove advertisements at any time for any reason and retain payment for the time of posting.
NATP assumes no responsibility or liability and does not endorse any candidate applying for a tax position. NATP assumes no responsibility or liability or involvement or endorsement of any practices for sale. By submitting an advertisement, you agree to hold harmless NATP from any claims, damages or losses incurred as a result of an ad submission.
NATP reserves the right to edit all advertisements for grammatical and styling that matches the NATP brand guidelines. No advertisement submitted shall reflect, imply or contribute to any discriminatory actions, practices or improper bias. By submitting an ad, you take sole responsibility to assure that the content is true and accurate and conforms to all applicable laws, standards and regulations. Advertisements submitted must be in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. NATP promotes equal employment laws and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
Communication Preferences and Local Chapters
NATP members can manage their communication preferences through their account settings or by using opt-out links provided in email communications. You can control your preferences for receiving newsletters, promotional materials, educational updates, and other non-transactional communications.
Please note that sharing of member information with NATP local chapters is not optional and is a standard part of NATP membership. Local chapters are affiliates of the national organization and use this information to provide chapter-level membership services, local events, and regional support. If you have questions about how your local chapter uses your information, please contact them directly.
Regardless of your communication preferences, you will continue to receive transactional messages necessary for your use of the Service, including but not limited to: membership confirmations, payment receipts, important account notifications, event confirmations, and CE credit documentation.
Entire Agreement
This User Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy referenced herein, constitutes the entire agreement between you and NATP regarding the use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements between you and NATP relating to your use of the Service.
