State Tax Volunteers

NATP members who have questions about state or local tax issues can connect with fellow members who have offered to share their knowledge. These volunteers graciously donate their time to help with basic state income tax questions.

Please note:

  • Volunteers are not expected to provide or complete state or local tax forms
  • While most volunteers offer assistance at no cost, some may charge a fee for in-depth consultation or complex issues

This peer-to-peer resource is one of the many ways NATP members support each other in their professional growth.

How to become a volunteer

If you’re an NATP member who wants to give back by answering questions about your state’s tax issues, we’d love to have you on the volunteer list.

To join:

  1. Edit your directory settings to list yourself as a state tax volunteer
  2. Be sure your profile visibility is set to "Public" or "Member-only" so others can find you

How to find a volunteer

To connect with a fellow NATP member for state or local tax guidance, you must be logged in as an active member. You can search the member directory and filter by state under the state tax volunteer filter. Volunteer hours and contact methods will vary; see the notes on their profile for details.
