NATP Member of the Year
Award overview
The NATP member of the year recognizes a NATP member for one of the following:
- Positively supports and represents NATP, its members, vision, mission, and values; demonstrates a commitment to the professional tax preparer community.
- Support of an NATP Chapter(s), its members and the engagement of NATP members
at the local level. - Volunteer efforts within their community will also be considered.
The award will be considered but is not required to be presented annually; the cadence and number of members recognized will be determined based on qualified nominations.
Nominations
Nominees must be current members of NATP and may be submitted by members, chapter and national board members and NATP staff. Candidate names may be submitted using our online nomination form. NATP will contact the nominee for any additional information supporting their nomination.
Exclusions
Consideration will not be given for activities done in a work capacity, as a requirement of their position within another organization, competing organization, or in a paid capacity for NATP or its affiliates. Compensated individuals may be eligible, but work done while compensated by NATP will not be considered. (Compensation is defined as those employed as W-2 or 1099 recipients.) Current NATP National Board of Directors members are not eligible and will not be considered until three years after their last term of service. Previous Tax Professional of the Year, Chapter Person of the Year or NATP Member of the Year recipients will not be considered until 5 years after the year they received the award.
Deadline
Nominations must be received by May 31 for work done during the consideration period from January to December of the preceding year. NATP is not responsible for entries lost or delayed in the mail. Candidate names may be submitted by using our online nomination form.
Judging
Names of all qualifying nominations will be considered, and a team identified by National will determine the recipient; if no candidate receives more than fifty percent of the vote in support of receiving the award, the award will not be presented.
Awards presentation
The recipient will receive a free trip to the Taxposium to receive the award. This also includes airfare, a four-night stay and full registration. A plaque/award will also be given and the recipient will be featured on the NATP website.
NATP Vanguard Award
Award overview
The NATP Vanguard Award recognizes individuals who contribute to advancing the federal tax industry. We want to celebrate those who make a difference, no matter how big or small, by promoting fairness, efficiency, and compliance. This award acknowledges the efforts of people who bring innovative ideas, advocate for positive change, and have an impact on the tax industry and those affected by it. Everyone can play a part in shaping the future of taxation, and we welcome nominations for the NATP Vanguard Award from a diverse range of individuals.
- Commitment to improvement: The recipient should show dedication to improving the tax industry, promoting fairness, efficiency and compliance. This can be done through small or large initiatives as long as they positively impact the industry.
- Creative thinking: The recipient should have introduced new ideas, technologies, or methodologies that contribute to advancements in the field of taxation. These innovations don't have to be groundbreaking but should make a difference in how taxes are administered or understood.
- Advocacy and communication: The recipient should be able to effectively communicate tax policies or advocate for changes that benefit the public interest. They may have increased public understanding or helped shape tax policies promoting fairness and efficiency.
- Influence and impact: The recipient should have made a difference in the tax industry and the lives of those affected by it. They may have played a role in shaping tax policy, contributing to better tax legislation or administration, or helping people navigate the complexities of the tax system.
- Ethics and professionalism: The recipient should exhibit a high level of ethics and standards of professional conduct, setting a positive example for others. They may have championed transparency, accountability, and integrity in tax administration.
The NATP Vanguard Award is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of those making a difference in the tax industry, regardless of the scale of their achievements. The award will be considered but is not required to be presented annually; cadence and number of individuals recognized will be determined based on qualified nominations.
