Find 2027 filing-season tax training near you this fall
Preparing for the 2027 filing season doesn’t have to start with another generic course search. NATP’s new Tax Season Updates map lets you enter your ZIP code and choose from nearby workshops. If traveling doesn’t fit your schedule, Virtual Tax Season Updates offer another way to get the same essential education.
The workshops cover the 2026 tax developments that will affect upcoming returns, but the value extends beyond accurate preparation. The knowledge you’ll gain can help you read a completed return for clues about which client conversation should happen next.
Put the 2027 filing season on the map
The interactive Tax Season Updates map makes it easy to find an in-person event. Search by ZIP code or state to see nearby workshops and their approximate distances.
In-person attendees can choose one or two days of education. Day 1, Essential Tax Law for Individuals and Businesses, focuses on the provisions tax pros will apply during the 2027 filing season. Topics include One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) provisions affecting 2026 returns, Trump Accounts, HSA changes and developments involving Schedule A (Form 1040), Itemized Deductions.
Day 2, Trending Topics and Tax Strategies, moves beyond the immediate return. Using a multigenerational family scenario, the workshop explores planning for life events including lifetime gifting, retirement distributions, cognitive decline and estate administration. It also addresses when filing Forms 709, 1041 or 706 may serve a larger planning purpose.
Together, the two days offer up to 16 CPE for AFSP participants, EAs, CPAs, CRTPs and CFP® professionals. Registration also includes a January on-demand webinar covering last-minute guidance released before filing season.
Use the return to uncover your client’s next move
Updated tax knowledge does more than help a preparer place the right number on the right line. It helps reveal when a client’s facts call for a closer look.
A return may show that a required minimum distribution (RMD) or family transfer deserves a separate planning conversation. It may also reveal a significant change in the client’s health or family circumstances that requires attention beyond the current filing.
Here, an investment in education becomes an investment in your practice. You can offer more than backward-looking compliance work without forcing an advisory pitch where one does not belong.
Take the tax update beyond the office
An in-person Tax Season Update also creates something that can be difficult to find during a normal workweek: focused time away from office distractions. Attendees can work through practical examples with instructors and connect with other tax professionals preparing for the same filing season.
For tax pros who prefer to participate from home or the office, Virtual Tax Season Updates provide three days of live online education on Oct. 27-29, Nov. 17-19 or Dec. 15-17. An on-demand option is also available. Virtual registration includes recordings and presentation slides, and Virtual Tax Season Updates are included with Premium NATP membership.
Find your Tax Season Update
Enter your ZIP code in NATP’s Tax Season Updates map to see the available locations. The tool shows your approximate straight-line distance to each workshop and links you to the information needed to choose your event.

A few clicks can put your 2027 filing-season preparation on the calendar. More importantly, the time you invest now can help you approach your next tax return with sharper judgment and a better sense of where the client may need additional guidance after filing.
