Performing Effective Client Interviews (Webinar)
The client interview is an integral part of tax preparation. It may take a variety of formats, including virtual interviews, phone interviews, or in-person meetings.
No matter what the format, the tax preparer needs to ask the right questions and be mindful of their due diligence required for the refundable credits or use of the Head of Household filing status. The professional must take good notes on the client responses to their questions, as well as be prepared to scan or make copies of any documents presented by the taxpayer. Finally, an effective wrap-up will answer any questions the taxpayer may have as well as set expectations for the outcome of the return as well as plan for future years.
This webinar will be presented by Jaye Tritz, EA, CFP.

As a shareholder in a pass-through entity like an S-corporation, the taxpayer receives a Schedule K-1 annually from the entity for reporting on their personal Form 1040. Often this form requires reporting of various amounts in various locations on the shareholder's personal return. Indeed, the Schedule K-1 can be an enigma for the tax preparer. In this 2 CPE session, we will break down the Schedule K-1 (1120-S) and discuss the items as they should be reported on the Form 1040. We will also highlight the calculation of shareholder basis and reporting ordinary business losses shown on a Schedule K-1. Presented by Jaye Tritz, EA, CFP.
