The Tax Division's mission is to collect taxes, inform stakeholders, and regulate charitable gaming. The Appeals group within the Tax Division impartially reviews taxpayer appeals of assessments for all tax types administered by the Tax Division including charitable gaming. As a Revenue Appeals Officer 1, you will learn about a wide variety of issues in the many tax types administered by the Department of Revenue. If you are self-motivated, work well with a high level of autonomy, and like a challenge this position is for you.
The Appeals group offers flexible work schedules, including "alternative work week" schedules that allow employees to have a day off every other week. The Tax Division also offers a hybrid work schedule which allows employees to work from home certain days of the week.
This position is the first level of appeal for a taxpayer. This position is assigned routine, less complex tax or penalty cases including excise taxes and some corporate income tax. The position also tests and maintains the Tax System for the appeals group; participates in training; and responds to taxpayer inquiries. The position works independently with a high degree of autonomy with limited supervision.
