Support for the Protecting Taxpayers Act
NATP has recently voiced its support of the
Protecting Taxpayers Act,
S. 3278; a bipartisan bill sponsored by Senators Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Ben Cardin, D-Md., which promotes more accountability to taxpayers by the IRS and attempts to revive the IRS’s regulation of tax preparers.
In a letter to the sponsors, NATP stated, “We applaud the bipartisan work in drafting this legislation that goes a long way in addressing the required IRS changes that are needed to increase efficiency and protect the taxpayer. In our profession, we know what happens when a taxpayer has been helped by unqualified tax preparers or has had her information stolen by unscrupulous people.”
We will continue to keep you updated on the status of this bill.
