2008 Intermediate S CorporationsCourse Level: Intermediate CPE Credits: 8 for EAs, 4 for CTEC Price: $100 for Members and $140 for Nonmembers Prerequisite: NATP's Preparing Corporation Returns Workshop or similar course and/or basic knowledge of corporate taxation. Tax professionals will receive the second level of training in the preparation of S corporation tax returns by attending this workshop. We will address some of the more complex issues regarding S corporation taxation, expand on the training presented in the introductory seminar, and build on the prior experiences of the practitioner. Topics include formation and electing S corporation status, pass-through losses, corporate-level taxation liquidations, shareholder employee transactions, domestic production activities deduction, and new developments. Objectives Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: - Calculate S corporation stock and loan basis and determine how much of a pass-through loss can be deducted on a shareholder's return.
- Identify when S corporation level taxes, such as built-in gains, apply and calculate the amount subject to the tax.
- Recognize situations that affect S corporation liquidations and know how to report these items.
- Advise clients on the latest developments in S corporation taxation.
