Chapter Annual Meeting

The Chapter held their 15th Annual Conference October 25-26, 2007 in Towson at the Sheraton Baltimore North, 903 Dulaney Valley Road.

Information on the 2008 meeting will be posted when it becomes available.


Chapter Committees

Bylaws
Duties: Will review the state chapter bylaws on an annual basis. They may make recommendations for changes to the State Board of Directors, and if approved by the State Board, forward these  changes to National for review and approval. The approved changes will be voted on by the State membership at the Annual Meeting. Once the State members have approved the bylaw changes, they are a permanent part of the State Chapter Bylaws.

Education
Duties: Plan, promote and conduct educational programs at the state level for the benefit of members.

Nominations
Duties: To conduct all elections, in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order. They are to determine in advance what method will be used in the case of a tie in each election.

Electronic Media
Duties: To maintain all of the MD-NATP informational areas of the World Wide Web site operated by NATP.

Government Relations
Duties: Promote political awareness through member involvement in the political process. Maintain constant contact and liaison with elected and appointed officials. Monitor legislation relative to the tax profession and keep the membership informed concerning political issues affecting them. Provide assistance and encouragement to the  membership to become involved in the political process.

Membership and Public Relations
Duties: Promote membership in the National Association of Tax Professionals and its members to the general public and coordinate all programs designed to further the public's concept of the NATP member (i.e. News releases, press releases, news conferences, etc.).

Newsletter
Duties: Produce and distribute a newsletter two times a year. The newsletter should encourage involvement of members in chapter sponsored events; promote technology, education, and governmental issues affecting the tax practice profession. The newsletter will continuously strive to ensure two way communication between the  MD-NATP and its members.

Professional Standards
Duties: Educate members about ethical standards, arbitrate disputes, and follow through on complaints about unethical conduct of members from other members and the public.
