Logging in to the NATP Website

  • Go to www.natptax.com
  • Click on "Members Only" from the main menu on the left side of the page
  • In the login name box, type your Member ID number (this number can be found on your Membership Card)
  • In the password box, type the first four letters of your last name immediately followed by your Member ID number (no spaces)
  • If you would like the system to remember your information so that you don't have to log in each time, check the "remember me" box.
  • Click the "go" button
  • If you have changed your password, NATP staff cannot retrieve it for you, and you will need to change it. You can do this yourself by clicking the "forgot your password?" link on the log in page. However, if you have the same e-mail address as another NATP member, this feature will not work due to security concerns and you will need to contact NATP at 800.558.3402, ext. 3 to have your password changed.


Change Your NATP Password

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Toward the bottom of the page click the link to change your password
  • In the "new password" box, type in the password you wish to use
  • In the "confirm new password" box type in the same information again
  • Click "Change Password"
  • If you forget your password, you can use the handy "forgot password" link on the login page.


Make Changes to Your NATP Profile

Have you moved, changed your phone number, or changed your e-mail address? You can make all of the above changes/additions to your NATP membership record, plus more.

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • The information shown here is what we have on file for you.
  • Next to the "Profile Information" heading, there is an "Edit" link. Click this link to add and/or change any of the information listed.
  • You will come to an "Individual edit" page where you can change information, as well as specify whether you would like to receive e-mail messages from NATP in plain text or .html format.
  • After you are through making change, click the Save button.


Add or Change Your Demographic Information Online

By entering or changing your demographic information online, you are helping NATP to offer you services and supplies that fit your needs as a tax professional. You can also enter a 100 word description of your practice on the online demographic page. This description will show on your listing on our Online Member Directory, helping to advertise your business to tax payers looking for a tax professional. To enter demographic information online:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Toward the bottom of the page click the link that says "Edit Demographics"
  • Answer the questions and click "Save"
  • Please note that these are the same questions that are asked on our Membership Renewal form. It is not necessary to answer these questions on paper if you have already answered them online.


Add or Change a Description of Your Practice on our Online Member Directory

Members can add a free 100 word description of their practice to the NATP Online Member Directory to advertise your business to tax payers looking for a tax professional. To enter your 100 word description:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Toward the bottom of the page click the link that says "Edit Demographics"
  • Toward the bottom of the Demographics page there is a space for you to add your 100 word description
  • Enter your description. Please note that this description is one paragraph only, do not use hard returns. Also do not use quotation marks or any type of formatting in your description. It should be plain text only. If you add anything other than one paragraph of plain text, you will receive an error message when you go to save the information.
  • Click Save.


Receive the TAXPRO Weekly in .html format

Are you currently receiving the plain text version of the TAXPRO Weekly each Thursday? If yes, there is an .html version available which is much easier to read. To receive this version:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Click the "Edit" link located next to the heading "Profile Information"
  • Toward the bottom of the page, where it says "send only plain text e-mail," if the box is checked, un check it.
  • Click the Save button.


Would You Like to Help NATP by Volunteering?

NATP has many volunteer opportunities available. Some require a fair amount of time and travel, where others only require a response to a quick e-mail survey. You can sign up to volunteer in less than a minute!

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Toward the bottom of the page click the link that says "Click here to enter and/or edit your volunteer information"
  • Let us know what time of year you are available to volunteer and if you are willing to travel as a volunteer.
  • There are eight volunteer opportunities listed. Just choose "Yes" from the drop down box next to the opportunities you are interested in.
  • Your information will be kept in a database and NATP staff will contact you when the need arises for the opportunities you are interested in.
  • Anytime you want to make changes to your volunteer information, you can come back to this same page and submit the changes.


Add Designations to Your NATP Account

Are you an EA, CPA, CFP, CTEC member, or attorney? If you answered yes, you can add these designations to your NATP member record, along with your license numbers, and year you received the designation. Having this information on file allows NATP to electronically send your education credits to the appropriate governing bodies. Saving you time. To add and/or edit designations:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Information" link on the left side of the page
  • Next to the "Profile Information" heading, there is an "Edit" link. Click this link.
  • In the designation text box, add your designations (i.e., EA, CPA, CFP)
  • Next click the Add Designation link
  • Choose the appropriate designation from the drop down box and then add your license number, etc. and click Save.
  • This will bring you back to your Information page where you can see what designations are listed and add more and/or change the designations listed if necessary.
  • After you are through making change, click the Save button.


Submitting a Question to our Tax Research Service

Would you like to submit your federal tax questions to our expert tax research service staff any time – day or night? It's easy to do online at www.natptax.com

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "Ask Research Services" link on the left side of the page
  • At the top of the screen will be your caller information. You do not have to do anything with this part of the screen; however, you do have options to change this information if you choose:
    • Clicking on the "pencil" icon next to a field allows you to edit that contact information in our database.
    • Clicking on the "add" icon allows you to add additional e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc. to our database.
    • If you already have multiple listings for items in our database, click the drop down arrow on the field to view and/or choose those other listings.
  • The middle portion of the screen is the call information.
    • If the "free call?" field says "yes." You haven't used your free call yet, and there will be no charge for this call. If the field says "no" you have already used your free call for the calendar year and NATP will charge $21.50 to your account for this call.
    • In the "question" field, enter your federal tax research question. Add as much detail as possible.
  • The call fee section of the screen will be blank, unless you are a non-member. In this case it will show the non-member fee of $49.50. If you are a non-member, you must then enter your payment method, credit card number, expiration date, and cardholder's name into the appropriate fields in order to submit the question.
  • Click the "Save" button and your question is now saved in our database and will be assigned to a member of our research staff. You will receive a response via e-mail within three business days.
  • You will not receive an e-mail confirmation of your question. You can check to make sure your question went through by clicking on the "My Transactions" link on the left side of the page and scrolling to the bottom of the page where it lists all of your research calls.


Checking the Status of a Research Question

Did you submit a question to our Federal Tax Research Service and are wondering what the status of the question is? You can check online any time, day or night. All questions you submitted are listed here whether they were submitted on the web, phoned in, or faxed in.

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • Click the "My Transactions" link on the left side of the page
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page – all of your research calls will be listed here.
  • You can see who your call was assigned to and the status of your call (completed or in process).
  • You can also click on the "click here for call info" link to see the complete question. If the question is complete. You will also be able to view the answer here.


Checking the Status of an Event Registration

Are you unsure as to whether or not you registered for an NATP course or whether your online registration went through? There's a quick and easy way for you to check the status of your event registrations online.

Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com

Click the "My Transactions" link on the left side of the page

The second section on this page is "event registrations." All of the events you are registered for will be listed here along with your registration date.

Two sections down is a section called "event registration history." In this section you can also see events that you registered for, as well as events that you cancelled.


NATP Can Help You Market Your Tax Practice

  • On the Members Only Index, choose the "Marketing Your Practice" link
  • Download NATP member logos in either .jpg (suitable for web use) or .tif (suitable for print) formats to use on your website, business cards, letterhead, etc.

Publications Online

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • On the Members Only Index, choose "Publications"
  • The current and past several months archives of TAXPRO Weekly are available in .pdf format.
  • The current editions of the TAXPRO Monthly and TAXPRO Quarterly are available.
  • You can search the TAXPRO Monthly and TAXPRO Quarterly archives. You can search by issue date, article title, author (Journal only) and/or article text. Just remember that to search, you must add an asterisk (*) before the term you are searching for.
  • Past editions of the TAXPRO Monthly are available in .pdf format, as well as an index of each year's articles.
  • All of the "You Make the Call" questions that were featured in the TAXPRO Weekly each week are available for you to scroll through.


NATP's Research Archives

NATP has over 900 research questions and answers in an archive exclusively for NATP member use. This is a great place to start your search for that elusive tax answer. Once you quickly find your answer, your client will think you spent hours researching it, when it only took you minutes to find. To locate the research archives:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • On the Members Only Index, choose "Research Services"
  • Click the "searchable research archives" link
  • In the search text box, type the keyword or phrase you are looking for - but remember that to search, you must add an asterisk (*) before the term you are searching for.
  • Example: Typing *decedent - will bring you results with the word "decedent" in them. Typing *charitable contribution - will bring you results with the phrase "charitable contribution" in them.


NATP's State Tax Assistance Volunteers

NATP Does not answer state tax questions; however, as a member, if you need help with a state tax question you can ask a fellow NATP member. There are over 100 NATP members that have volunteered to help their colleagues with state tax questions. To find a listing of state assistance volunteers:

  • Login to the Members Only section of www.natptax.com
  • On the Members Only Index, choose "State Assistance Volunteers"
  • If you want to find volunteers for a certain state, choose the state you want from the drop down box and click Go.
  • There is also a link you can click to get a listing of all state volunteers.
  • The hours the volunteers have stated they are available are listed in the local time for the area. Please respect the hours listed. If you request a volunteer to return your call, be willing to accept a collect call.
  • If you would like to be an NATP State Tax Assistance Volunteer, there are also instructions on this page how to be listed.


Registering for NATP's Live Workshops Online

Save yourself a phone call and register for our live workshops online. You don't have to worry about the safety of your credit card information; all of our online registration forms are secure. You can also register for any of our online or self-study courses online.

  • Go to www.natptax.com, and click on the Live Courses link on the home page under Upcoming Education/CPE.
  • Click on the name of the workshop you wish to register for.
  • Click on the "Dates and Locations" link
  • Find the location you wish to attend, and click on the "Click here to register" link
  • Click the Register Now link.
  • If you are not already logged in, you will need to login with your Member ID and password (the first four letters of your last name immediately followed by your member ID).
  • At the top of the page you will see your contact information. If it is all correct, you don't need to do anything. If you need to make a change, click on the "pencil" icon. If you need to add information, click on the "add" button. Make sure there is an e-mail address listed so that you receive your confirmation.
  • The next section of the page shows the registration fees that are applicable to your membership type. Check the box for the option(s) for the person whose contact information is listed at the top of the page. Do not choose options for more than one person. Each person must log in and register separately. In order to register someone else, you will need to log out and log back in as that person.
  • Click the Register button. (If you are returned to the same screen, you didn't check a fee option. Please check a fee option and click Register again.)
  • View this page to make sure that you are receiving the correct fee option and click the Check-Out button.
  • The shipping information is not required; however, please make sure that the e-mail listed is valid. If not, please click the "pencil" icon to change it. If there is not an e-mail listed, click the "add" button to add your e-mail address. Click Continue.
  • Choose a payment method. Type in the cardholder's name, the credit card number (no dashes, i.e., 4444333322221111), and the expiration date. The other fields are optional and are not required. Click Continue.
  • You will see a page with your order information. Please confirm your payment information (at the bottom of the page). If it is not correct, choose Edit Payment. If everything is correct, click Finish.
  • If your order went through, you will see a receipt page. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation. If you are returned to the same page to confirm your information, there was a problem with your order. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the error message and choose Edit Payment. When finished editing, click Finish.


Registering for Conference Online

Save yourself a phone call and register for our National Conference online. You don't have to worry about the safety of your credit card information; all of our online registration forms are secure. You can also register for any of our other live, online, or self-study courses online.

  • Go to www.natptax.com, and click on the National Conference link on the home page under Upcoming Education/CPE.
  • Click on 2007 Registration – this will bring you to a page with the different registration options. Toward the bottom of the page, click the link to the online registration form.
  • Click the Register Now link.
  • If you are not already logged in, you will need to login with your Member ID and password (the first four letters of your last name immediately followed by your member ID).
  • At the top of the page you will see your contact information. If it is all correct, you don't need to do anything. If you need to make a change, click on the "pencil" icon. If you need to add information, click on the "add" button.
  • The next section of the page shows the registration fees that are applicable to your membership type. Only check the box for the option(s) for the person whose contact information is listed at the top of the page. Do not choose Full Conference for the person listed and then also choose Spouse/Guest and/or a daily option. In order to register someone as a spouse/guest or for daily options, you will need to log out and log back in as that person. Depending on your member type, you may have to scroll down in the registration fees box in order to see all of the options available.
  • If a member recommended that you attend the Conference, please type their full name in the "Who recommended you?" box.
  • In accordance with the ADA, if you require special needs, please list them.
  • Click the Register button. (If you are returned to the same screen, you didn't check a fee option. Please check a fee option and click Register again.)
  • View this page to make sure that you are receiving the correct fee option and click the Check-Out button.
  • The shipping information is not required; however, please make sure that the e-mail listed is valid. If not, please click the "pencil" icon to change it. If there is not an e-mail listed, click the "add" button to add your e-mail address. Click Continue.
  • Choose a payment method. Type in the cardholder's name, the credit card number (no dashes, i.e., 4444333322221111), and the expiration date. The other fields are optional and are not required. Click Continue.
  • You will see a page with your order information. Please confirm your payment information (at the bottom of the page). If it is not correct, choose Edit Payment. If everything is correct, click Finish.
  • If your order went through, you will see a receipt page. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation.   • Go to www.natptax.com, and click on the "Self-Study Courses" link on the home page under Upcoming Education/CPE.
  • Click on the "Courses Offerings" link
  • Find the course you wish to purchase, and click on the "Click here to register" link
  • Click the Register Now link.
  • If you are not already logged in, you will need to login with your Member ID and password (the first four letters of your last name immediately followed by your member ID).
  • At the top of the page you will see your contact information. If it is all correct, you don't need to do anything. If you need to make a change, click on the "pencil" icon. If you need to add information, click on the "add" button. Make sure there is an e-mail address listed so that you receive your confirmation.
  • The next section of the page shows the registration fees that are applicable to your membership type.   • You will receive an e-mail registration confirmation. This confirmation includes the link for you to download the textbook for the course, as well as the link to take the exam when you have finished studying.


Purchase NATP's Print-Based Self-Study Workshops

Purchase our print-based self-study workshops online. You will receive a printed copy of the textbook, as well as a paper copy of the exam. You don't have to worry about the safety of your credit card information; all of our online registration forms are secure. You can also register for any of our online or self-study courses online.

  • Go to www.natptax.com, and click on the "Tax Store" link on the main menu on the left side of the page
  • In the "Category Search" box, choose the year you are looking for followed by "NATP Textbooks, CDs, DVDs, Videos"
  • Click Go
  • Any product with a "SS" at the end of the product number is a self-study course. The course description will also state that it is a self-study course.
  • Find the course you wish to purchase and click the "Add to Cart" button. If you want to see more information about the course, you can click on the product name link, which will open up a new window with more detailed product information.
  • After clicking the "Add to Cart" button, a screen will come up with the product information, if you need to change the quantity or ship to address, do it on this screen and then click "Add to Cart"
  • A screen showing your "cart" will come up. If you are finished shopping and the items in your cart are correct, click the "Check-Out" button
  • Check your customer information. If information need to be changed, click the "pencil" icon to edit the information. If you would like to add additional information, click the add button. When you are through, click the "Continue" button
  • Choose a shipping option and click "Continue"
  • Choose a payment method and enter:
    • Cardholder's name
    • Credit Card Number
    • Expiration Date
  • Click "Continue"
  • Confirm that all of the information is correct, if yes, click the "Finish" button
  • If your order went through, you will see a receipt page. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation of the order. If you are returned to the same page to confirm your information, there was a problem with your order. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the error message and choose Edit Payment. When finished editing, click Finish.


Shipping Charges for Orders Outside the Continental U.S.

You can order from our online Tax Store even if your order is being shipped outside the continental United States.

  • When you get to the shipping page for the online Tax Store, select a ground, second day, or next day shipment option.
  • In addition to the amount that appears on your screen, an additional amount will be charged to your credit card. This amount will be the actual charge for shipping, plus a $5 handling fee.
  • Ground orders are shipped out via UPS or US Postal Service.
  • If you would like to know the exact shipping charges, please contact Member Services at 800.558.3402, ext. 3


Ordering Tax Store Products Online

  • Go to www.natptax.com, and click on the "Tax Store" link on the main menu on the left side of the page
  • Search for a product by Category, Product Code, or Keyword.
  • Find the product you wish to purchase and click the "Add to Cart" button. If you want to see more information about the product along with a picture of the product, you can click on the product name link, which will open up a new window with more detailed product information.
  • After clicking the "Add to Cart" button, a screen will come up with the product information, if you need to change the quantity or ship to address, do it on this screen and then click "Add to Cart"
  • A screen showing your "cart" will come up. If you are finished shopping and the items in your cart are correct, click the "Check-Out" button otherwise click "Continue Shopping"
  • If you chose "Check-Out", check your customer information. If information need to be changed, click the "pencil" icon to edit the information. If you would like to add additional information, click the add button. When you are through, click the "Continue" button
  • Choose a shipping option and click "Continue"
  • Choose a payment method and enter:
    • Cardholder's name
    • Credit Card Number
    • Expiration Date
  • Click "Continue"
  • Confirm that all of the information is correct, if yes, click the "Finish" button
  • If your order went through, you will see a receipt page. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation of the order. If you are returned to the same page to confirm your information, there was a problem with your order. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the error message and choose Edit Payment. When finished editing, click Finish.
