Live Workshops

NATP is known for its outstanding live workshops. Seasoned instructors present even the most complicated topics with ease. Click here for a list of live workshops.

National Conference

At NATP's National Conference & Expo in Atlanta, you can choose from a variety of tax and business topics all in one location, taught by industry leaders, and earn up to 33 CPE credits.

Facilitated Online Courses

When you sign up for one of NATP's online courses, you can log in and participate when it's most convenient for you. You will need to spend about an hour a day, three days a week, participating in the online course for maximum effectiveness and to receive credit or successfully pass an exam. You can use any computer with access to the Internet to participate; however, a broadband connection is required. You don't need any special technical skill or knowledge to take part. All you need to know is how to access and navigate the Internet. It's that easy. Plus, you'll have help along the way.  Each online course has a facilitator to help guide you through the learning process and answer any questions you may have.

For facilitated online course information and details on how to sign up, click here. CPE credits are available for EAs, CFPs®, or CTEC members. All other credentialed professionals should check with their state for CPE approval.

Self-Study

If you can't attend one of NATP's workshops and prefer not to take a facilitated online course, then self-study is for you! Get the same great information offered in our live workshops, but study at your own pace. Once you are done with a thorough review of the material, a test will be available for EAs and CTEC members to receive CPE credits. All other credentialed professionals should check with their state for CPE approval.

Webinars On-Demand

NATP's Webinars On-Demand are the perfect solution for busy tax professionals who want superior education when and where they need it. A webinar is defined as a web-based seminar, a presentation, lecture, or workshop that is transmitted over the Internet. While a live webinar allows for two-way interaction between the audience and the presenter, the "on-demand" version is ideal for those who want flexibility in their presentation viewing. That means you can get tax information and earn CPE with a click of the mouse whether at 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. Click here for the latest course listings and to register.

What is Your Preferred Learning Style?

Did you know that you have a preferred learning style? Here's a scenario that will help explain what a learning style is.

For example, you purchase a new DVD player. Which of the three scenarios below best describe you?

  • You read the entire manual and then set it up. (Visual)
  • You call a friend who has the same DVD player and ask him to explain how to set it up. (Auditory)
  • You throw the directions to the side and start setting it up on your own. (Kinesthetic)

There are many schools of thought on learning styles. For our example above and in our quiz, we are using the VAK method. This method stands for Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic.

We use all three styles to receive information; however, one or more styles are usually more dominant than others. The dominant style is typically the best way for you to learn new information.

You can learn when other styles are used; you just prefer and may be more successful with your dominant style. There are many factors that can make any learning environment successful for you. At a live workshop a great instructor can tap into all three learning styles throughout the day. They start with a little lecture, have you read something from the text, and have you do an activity. Overall the attendees at this workshop will learn more and feel more satisfied with the overall workshop, as all three learning styles were "taught" to. This can happen in an online setting too with audio lectures, reading material, webinars, and more.

NATP's courses appeal to all learning styles:

  • Live workshops – auditory, visual, and sometimes kinesthetic
  • Facilitate online courses – visual and kinesthetic
  • Self-study courses – visual and kinesthetic
  • Webinars – auditory and visual

So find out your style by taking a short quiz. Then, start learning!
