Summary For your clients, typically no good can come from receiving an IRS letter. It almost always says there was a problem with a previously filed return and that they owe additional tax, interest and maybe even penalty. Your clients need your advice; attend this webinar and be ready to help. We will go over the various types of IRS notices and show you the most effective way to respond. Identify the rules as they relate to filing a power of attorney to respond on his or her behalf. In the event your client is on the hook for the tax owed, learn how to properly file an offer in compromise and an installment agreement. Don’t be caught off guard the next time your client presents you with a notice.
Objectives Upon completion of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Identify types of and respond to IRS notices
- Complete Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative
- Submit offers in compromise and installment agreements to the IRS
- Follow the proper channels through the appeals process
