Summary
As simple as it sounds to make a deductible charitable contribution, tax professionals know there is a lot more to it. Explore the complex rules, including income limitations and carryover provisions that apply to charitable contributions. We will help determine your clients’ substantiation requirements for charitable contribution deductions. Also, we will identify situations when your client may need an appraisal for a noncash contribution and determine the deductible amount.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this webinar, you will be able to:  

  • Identify items that qualify as deductible charitable contributions vs. items or services that are not considered donations for tax purposes.
  • Identify qualified and nonqualified charitable organizations.
  • Calculate the allowable deduction for contributions of property and other noncash items.
  • Identify deductible out of pocket expenses incurred in conjunction with providing volunteer services for a qualified charity.
  • Calculate limitations on charitable contribution deductions and determine carryover amounts.
  • Explain recordkeeping rules for charitable contributions.
