Summary
Divorce is an emotional rollercoaster for the parties involved. Tax professionals who understand the complications and economic effect at the tax level can reassure their divorcing clients during this difficult time. It’s the tax professional’s responsibility to explain the tax implications of divorce and report items of income and expense correctly on the individuals’ return. Where children are involved, it is important that dependency exemptions are claimed on the correct return and child support and other payments are correctly reported. Attend this webinar to be prepared when clients ask for help in the midst of divorce.
