Summary
The Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act changed the rules for employer-provided health insurance. This course will review what a small business needs to know with respect to these changes. Also, this course will explain the general business credit carryback and carryfoward rules and analyze some popular general business credits, including how to report them.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the tax professional will be able to:
- Advise clients about employer-provided health insurance in light of changes made with the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act.
- Identify the nondiscrimination rules (including which plans are grandfathered from these requirements).
- Explain the general business credit carryback and carryforward rules (including the expanded five-year carryback for an eligible small business in 2010).
- Calculate and report the new hire retention and the small business health insurance general business credits.
